Stonewall 3rds FC
In March 1991, a gay amateur footballer living in London put an advert in a gay publication asking for like-minded people to contact him. He wanted to encourage gay men to play competitive football and was amazed by the number of replies he received.
Stonewall Football Club was born and was the first gay mens football club in the UK.
Stonewall have gone on to become, arguably, the most successful LGBT-friendly team in the world, winning countless World Cup's, EuroGames, and OUTgames competitions.
In 2006 Stonewall created a Sunday 3rd team that plays in the London Unity League against other gay/bi clubs in London.
The emphasis for the 3rd team is for players at all levels to get together and play with a less competitive feel about the match preparation, etc. The third team will also be taking part in the GFSN Cup 2008/2009.
