There were plenty of surprises in the opening round of the GFSN League, most notably at Old Deer Park in London - which hosted Titans vs Hotscots and Falcons vs Ball Bois.
The East Midlands side humbled the Falcons, recording a 5-2 victory - despite being 2-1 down at half-time. Meanwhile, Hotscots, making their debut in the league, eased to a comfortable win over a lacklustre Titans side, 4-2.
Blaze fired seven past Leftfooters on a sunny day in Birmingham, whilst Leicester were awarded a default 3-nil win after Bournemouth couldn’t travel.
Yorkshire travel to Brighton next weekend to complete the first round of fixtures.
Blaze currently top the table ahead of Ball Bois and Hotscots, whilst the next round of fixtures prove interesting; a London derby between Titans and Falcons, whilst Ball Bois travel to Yorkshire.

The new GFSN season kicks-off this weekend, with London Falcons looking to become the first ever to retain their title.
After a convincing showing in the World Cup, where they reached the semi-finals of Division 1, Falcons will be hoping for a victory against Nottingham Ball Bois.
With two trophies already under their belt already this year, Nottingham will look to build on their 5th place last year; their first in the league.
Their rivals Leicester Wildecats meanwhile, had a wonderful (if surprising) start to the season, lifting the IGLFA Division 2 World Championship 3 weeks ago.
They’ve finished runners-up in the league on three separate occasions, and will surely be one of the favourites to challenge for honours this season.
A new season brings hope and optimism, with London Titans, Brighton Bandits, and GFC Bournemouth & Hampshire all hoping for a better season than last year.
Finally, a huge welcome to the GFSN League’s newest club - Hotscots FC, who make their debut away at London Titans this weekend.
The opening fixtures:
1. Birmingham Blaze vs Leftfooters FC
2. Leicester Wildecats vs GFC Bournemouth
3. London Falcons vs Nottingham Ball Bois
4. London Titans vs Hotscots FC
5. Brighton Bandits vs Yorkshire Terriers (Sun 28 Sept)

Birmingham Blaze won the Manchester Pride Games games for 2008, overcoming Village Manchester 3-2 in the final.
The Birmingham side were convincing champions, winning all their games convincingly aside from a 3-1 defeat to the Manchester side in the group stage. They atoned that defeat by beating Village Manchester in the final
Michael McCulley, who took over as Chairman of the club this season said: “I’m extraordinarily proud of the team and this triumph, which comes just a week before the start of our season with the GFSN national league.
“Over the past three years, we’ve made many friends up and down the country and are looking forward confidently to this season and our first match against London Leftfooters; what an amazing start for us”.
The club’s newly appointed Manager, Fiona Washington, was beaming with pride as the cup was delivered to the Village Inn, Hurst Street, the club’s Principal venue sponsor, where it is now proudly displayed.

Leicester Wildecats have secured funding for a new kit, which sees them return to their original colours of blue.
The kit, sponsored by Simply Malaysia, will be unveiled at their first league game of the season against GFC Bournemouth on September 21st.
Their former white kit, used for the last three seasons as their primary kit, will now be used when there is a colour-clash with another team.
