Yorkshire Terriers FC
The team started in 1997 when seven Yorkshire-based members of the GFSN got together to play their first game, against Village Manchester FC in Sheffield.
Terriers went on to compete in the GFSN National 5-a-side Tournaments of '97, '98, and '99, and rapid improvement came with more formalised training and the acquisition of a larger squad.
They finished second in the 1999 and 2001 GFSN tournaments and were semi-finalists in 2000, receiving a "player of the tournament" award in each of those two years.
Eventually, they went on to win the tournament in 2005, which was held in Newcastle.
The club were one of the founding members of the GFSN League, finishing the inaugural season in third place. In the 2003/04 season, they went on to take the title.
The GFSN League has seen Yorkshire play home and away against LGBT-friendly teams around the country, forging long-lasting friendships and happy memories.
Yorkshire's have a wonderful ethos - whilst playing hard on the pitch, they are also great party-animals - with the social aspect of the club equally as (if not more) important than the playing side.
